What is a ct scan

Computed Tomography (CT) is a diagnostic imaging exam that uses X-rays and advanced computer processing to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body. CT imaging allows physicians to quickly and accurately evaluate internal organs, bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues.

CT is commonly used in urgent and non-urgent clinical settings to assist with diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care.

What to Expect During Your CT Scan

During a CT exam, you will lie on a motorized table that moves through the CT scanner. The scan itself is quick and painless, and most exams are completed within a few minutes. It is important to remain still while images are acquired to ensure optimal image quality.

Some CT exams may require the use of contrast to improve visualization of certain structures. Your care team will review this with you prior to imaging.
